Westside Lefty is a real dude-sort of the patron saint of Murphy's law. A tall, rangy senior citizen he cuts an almost surreal figure, We met him wearing wearing lime green reflective vest and pants "swimming" down the street--as he walked he made swimming motions with his arms ("part of my exercise regime"). Szandora charmed his story out of him and we got some great tales of a swinging San Francisco of yore. He walked away up the street, the sun directly behind him he stopped at the top and waved, silhouetted in front of a metal gate adorned with a masonic sun symbol.
The story would end there except that our day did a 180 from placid to weird and crazy. And every time we'd run into Lefty it would be the same--things would go south in a radical sometimes bizarre way. Like fiery hailstones weird.
So here's to you Westside Lefty! respect.
